Built with intention. Run with discipline.
Whatever we're building — a custom home, a complex renovation, a Michelin-starred restaurant — the work runs the same way. Honest pre-construction, architect-led collaboration, careful detailing, and a finish that lasts. Here's what that actually looks like in practice.
Design partnership, the way we do it.
Architecture is the most important decision in any project — and we don't pretend it isn't. Most clients arrive with their architect already in place. When they don't, we engage one from a small group of trusted professionals we've worked with for years.

01
Architect collaboration Hand-in-hand from pre-construction through final detail. We bring buildability, cost, and detailing insight without crowding the design.
-
02
Bringing in a designer When you need guidance, we tap a network of architects and designers we know well — and we recommend based on what your project actually needs, not who's on retainer.
-
03
A real network, not a roster The right architect for a Passive House isn't the right architect for a restaurant. We've built relationships across both worlds.
-
04
Long-standing collaboration These aren't transactional referrals. They're partnerships developed across many projects, where each side already knows how the other works.
Performance, built into the work.
About half of what we build is energy-conscious construction. Whether or not the project is pursuing formal certification, we build to the standards of Passive House, LEED, and ENERGY STAR — they're how a building actually ought to perform.
Building Envelope
Continuous air barriers, thermal-bridge-free assemblies, and balanced ventilation with heat recovery — the things you can't see that make a building quiet, efficient, and durable.
Right-Sized Mechanicals
Heating, cooling, and ventilation matched to the actual load. Smaller, quieter, more efficient — and easier to live with day-to-day.
Materials That Age Well
Selected for how they look at year five, not just at delivery. Specs that account for performance, durability, and how the finish actually wears.
Verified Performance
When we're pursuing certification, we use blower door tests, energy modeling, and continuous commissioning to verify what we built performs as designed.
Historic preservation, done with care.
Some of our best work has been in historic buildings — stone parishes converted to townhomes, period houses brought back to life, and historic restaurants where we saved as much of the original character as possible. It takes a different skillset, and it's some of our favorite work.
-
01
Original conditions We know how older buildings actually go together — and how to work with what's there instead of fighting it.
-
02
Modern systems, gracefully integrated Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and accessibility integrated into existing structures without compromising the character.
-
03
Preservation expertise We coordinate with preservation consultants, structural engineers, and historic boards. We've done the work to know what to ask for, and what to fight for.

04
Embodied carbon The greenest building is often the one already built. Adaptive reuse retains the carbon embedded in the original structure — and the craft.
They are straightforward and realistic — they tell you what something will cost, what it will take, and they deliver on it.
